The company that has owned The Oklahoman since it was founded is selling the newspaper, its building and other businesses it owns to The Anschutz Corp. of Denver.
The Oklahoma Publishing Co. chairman and CEO Christy Everest said Thursday that the sale will be complete early next month. Everest is the granddaughter of Edward K. Gaylord, who co-founded the newspaper in 1903 with Ray Dickinson. The newspaper is four years older than the state of Oklahoma.
A sale price was not announced. The transaction includes the newspaper, its website, its headquarters building, printing facilities and real estate.
The newspaper delivers about 143,000 newspapers each weekday, plus 202,000 on Sunday.
The Anschutz Corp. is owned by Philip Anschutz of Denver.
