Tetra Pak partners with Italian dairy Parmalat for US$2.2M upgrade of Rowville, Australia, plant to begin manufacturing new Tetra Brik Edge milk carton, to be available in Victoria beginning Sept. 13

LOS ANGELES , September 13, 2011 (Forestweb) – A partnership between Tetra Pak and Italian dairy Parmalat SpA will result in upgrades worth US$2.2 million at a manufacturing plant in Rowville, Australia, where new Tetra Brik Edge cartons will be produced, Manufacturers’ Monthly reported Sept. 13.

The cartons will be used to package white milk for Parmalat’s Pauls Full Cream, Rev and Skinny Milk brands in Victoria, and will become available across the state beginning on Sept. 13.

The line had previously been contained in gable top cartons before the switch, and the Tetra Brik Edge carton represents the first shift in packaging in a decade.

Pauls milk makes up 50.8% of branded white milk in Victoria’s grocery market, Manufacturers’ Monthly reported.

Sweden’s Rheumatism Association has recognized the carton for its easy opening, pouring, and resealing capabilities that help people with hand mobility problems, said Noel Ayre, managing director for Tetra Pak Oceania.

It is also the only milk carton in Australia that has received Forest Stewardship Council certification.
