LOS ANGELES , September 13, 2011 () – Mohawk Fine Paper, Inc. has temporarily laid off 45 employees at its Beckett paper mill in Hamilton, Ohio, the city manager said, reported the Hamilton Journal-News on Sept. 11.

Joshua Smith said the layoffs were temporary and were a result of fallen product demand.

The company would continue to pay for all health benefits during the layoff, he said.

Mohawk Chief Operating Officer Kevin Richard could not be reached for comment.

New York-based Mohawk Fine Papers acquired the Beckett mill from International Paper Co. in 2005.

The company is headquartered in Cohoes, New York, and produces premium and fine printing papers, according to its website.
