LOS ANGELES , September 9, 2011 () – A Swedish worker at Munksjö AB’s paper mill in Billingsfors, Sweden, fell into a cistern filled with lye on Aug. 30 and died, reported The Local Europe on Aug. 31.

The man fell through the roof of the silo, said mill manager Ulf Maxén.

“As to exactly what he was doing on the roof of the silo, I can’t speculate. That’s for the investigation to reveal,” he said.

The corrosive liquid is used in the paper manufacturing process.

Police and officials from the Swedish Work Environment Authority launched an investigation following the accident.
