LOS ANGELES , September 6, 2011 () – British American Tobacco hopes an appeal to the Australian High Court will finally lead to the release of the legal advice given to the government in connection with the proposed plain cigarette packaging legislation, The Wall Street Journal reported Sept. 4.

The decision follows a failed attempt by the company to request the release of these files.

If the law requiring plain cigarette packs by January 2012 is passed, the company said it is prepared to challenge it in court.
