CHICAGO , September 6, 2011 () – Quaker Oats Co. issued a voluntary recall of its Quaker Chewy Smashbar Graham Pretzel snack bars, citing an undeclared milk allergen that is not listed on the label.

The company, a unit of beverage company PepsiCo Inc., said the recall was initiated after it was discovered that the "may contain milk" disclaimer required for the product was omitted from the package.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk products run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the bars, the company said Friday. One allergic reaction has been reported, it said.

Consumers with a milk allergy should return the product to the retailer where it was purchased for a refund.

Quaker said it is in contact with the Food and Drug Administration about the issue.

Consumers with questions or concerns should contact the company by calling 800-856-5781 or visiting http://www.quakeroats.com.
