Noble to spend US$630M on deepwater drilling rig that will be constructed at Korean shipyard, delivered in H2 2014; order brings Noble's fleet to 80 offshore drilling rigs

NEW YORK , September 1, 2011 () – Noble Corp. to expand offshore drilling fleet to 80 ships

Noble Corp. will spend $630 million on another deepwater drilling rig, the independent energy company said Thursday.

The rig will be constructed at a shipyard in Korea and delivered in the second half of 2014. It will be able to drill in 10,000 feet of water.

The order will bring Noble's fleet to 80 offshore drilling ships. The ships are located in the Middle East, India, the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Mexico, the Mediterranean, the North Sea, Brazil, West Africa and Asian Pacific.
