Firefighters returned to Stimson Lumber Company's Gaston, Oregon sawmill on Saturday morning to put out a small roof fire, The Oregonian reported on Aug. 27.
The fire was the second this month at the sawmill, where three firefighters were injured in an explosion on Aug. 16.
On Saturday, Gaston Rural Fire District and Forest Grove Fire & Rescue crews responded to a call shortly after 5.30 a.m. They put out a fire near a rooftop fan and monitored the mill throughout the day.
The Aug. 16 explosion happened when firefighters were tackling a blaze in a dust collection bin in the mill's powerhouse. The three injured firefighters were released from hospital on the following day. Damage from the blaze was estimated at US$100,000.
Officials said the fire on Aug. 16 was in no way related to the incident on Saturday morning.
