Big Lots says it hopes to take over former Borders Group locations in U.S.; bookseller recently went out of business, leaving 399 empty storefronts

LOS ANGELES , August 26, 2011 () – Big Lots Inc. hopes to nab some shuttered Borders Group locations, according to Big Lots' Legal and Real Estate Vice President Chuck Haubiel, the Dayton Business Journal reported Aug. 16.

The bookseller recently went out of business, leaving 399 empty locations across the U.S.
