BLOOMSBURG, Pennsylvania , August 26, 2011 (press release) – A book manufacturing plant in northeastern Pennsylvania has told its employees it is closing.

Employees heading out of the RR Donnelley plant outside Bloomsburg told WNEP-TV (http://bit.ly/oRBRSV ) they learned Thursday that they have only 60 days left of employment.

The Chicago-based company will close the plant by the end of October. About 400 people will lose their jobs.

Officials from the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce said RR Donnelley has struggled since the creation of e-books and that the closure will hurt the rest of the area's economy.

Books have been manufactured at the plant for more than 30 years.

Calls to the company were not returned.
