FEDERAL WAY, Washington , August 24, 2011 (press release) – iLevel by Weyerhaeuser has added more than 30 new features to its latest version ofJavelin® 2011 software based on user feedback to simplify data input, expand design capabilities and enable wider sharing of output results. The requested enhancements allow Javelin v4.3 users to design structural frames even faster, more efficiently and with just the right amounts of engineered wood products and lumber. www.ilevel.com.

While iLevel included many new, user-requested capabilities within Javelin 2011 software v4.3, the following five features were among those most commonly suggested:

  • Reports that are easier to navigate, customize and export in different formats – Javelin v4.3 software uses a more powerful and flexible underlying reporting engine than previous versions, eliminating the need for users to learn cumbersome CAD-based macros.
  • Import and edit trace objects from PDF files – In addition to importing DXF, DWG and DWF file formats, Javelin software now imports PDF files as trace objects that users can cut, copy, paste, move, crop, resize and delete to achieve the precise inputs they desire. The option to select a file format increasingly popular with architects and engineers speeds input.
  • Addition of 2009 IBC to building code options – Users can select from various codes and code versions, including those now in regular use throughout North America, to help ensure local building officials accept the software's data outputs.
  • Automatic joist placement within floor system cantilevers – By removing the extra step of manual joist placement, Javelin software v4.3 allows for more efficient modeling of floor systems.
  • Flexibility to exclude connectors based on supported material type – In some cases, designers prefer to list only certain items in their material lists. Users can now turn off the connector display, rather than having to remove connectors manually.
"Javelin software users will recognize many of their suggestions in this latest version," said Ian Falivene, Javelin Software Product Manager. "iLevel software developers regularly work side-by-side with designers, so we hear their ideas firsthand. Plus, we actively survey users to find out what they like, and what the software can do better. It's a continual process of creating the most powerful and intuitive design tools possible."

Javelin design software is part of the iLevel® Modus™ software suite – tools for optimizing structural frame design and construction. Other iLevel offerings include Forte™ single-member sizing software, Stellar® fabrication software, Estima™ estimating services and NextPhase® Site Solutions.
