A Clorox study found 400 times more bacteria on desktops than on toilets, Upper Michigans Choice reported Aug. 16.
As for the workplace with the greatest number of germs, the top prize goes to schools and childcare centers, followed by banks in second place, according to a study by the University of Arizona.
Washing hands with soap and water is more effective than sanitizing to protect against germs, said a nurse with the Marquette Community Health Department in Negaunee, Michigan.
The Clorox study determined that items of high germ concentration are telephones, desks and computer accessories.
Proper use of disinfecting wipes can reduce the number of germs by 99.9%, the publication stated.
