CROTHERSVILLE, Indiana , August 11, 2011 () – Police in southern Indiana say a 21-year-old logger was fatally injured when a dead tree fell on him.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says Dexter Royer of Dubois (doo-BOYS') County was working with a crew from Mark Morin Logging of West Baden Springs when the accident happened Wednesday.

Officer Rob Henley tells The Tribune of Seymour that other crew members tried to help Royer before emergency workers arrived, but Royer died at a Seymour hospital.

The logging crew was working in a rural area near the town of Crothersville.
