SAO PAULO , August 8, 2011 (press release) – Company launches packaging that combines savings, practicality and mobility

Klabin, the leading manufacturer of packaging paper and board, corrugated boxes and industrial sacks, is introducing a new product which brings innovation to the industrial sack and civil construction sectors. – The new valved sack with handle has been developed to offer advantages for manufacturers’ processes and practicality and mobility for consumers.

Originally created for the mortar market, the valved sack with handle uses technology exclusive to Klabin, a result of investments in new production lines. “We have developed an innovative solution which helps our customers improve their processes of automation, quality and safety. Moreover, consumers can now count on an easy-to-handle product in Brazilian home centers” explains Klabin’s Sales Manager, Fernando Bruno.

The valved sack with handle is manufactured with multi-wall technology, that is to say, the sack consists of two plies of kraft paper and one ply of polyethylene. The major differential is in the polyethylene layer which can be adapted to a special system and has stronger sealing which reduces leakage to a minimum. Ultrasonic welding ensures safety in closure, more accurate weighing and high quality during the filling procedure.

Sacks with weldable valves do not require glue or heat for closing and possess a hermetic structure. They are made from high strength paper and can be printed in up to eight colors with a flexographic system, which adds value to the product and enables a better display at the point of sale.

A successful project of the company, the valved sack with handle is the consequence of dedication and efficiency by Klabin’s Research and Development division which, over the years, has committed itself to developing differentiated products that are advantageous to both consumers and the environment. This new product is one of the finalists in the 2011 ABRE Award, a promotion of the Brazilian Packaging Association, which will choose the year’s best packages.

Klabin has a wide range of models and its glued and valved sacks have openings which fit various options and combinations of valves and facilitate filling by high-speed manual and automatic machines. Furthermore they can be provided with barriers which give the packaged contents total protection and, after filling, make easy and stable stacking.

Klabin’s packaging is environmentally correct, since it is 100% biodegradable, recyclable and produced from raw material that comes from planted forests. The products are also certified by the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) which attests to organizations that extract forests resources properly and respect social, environmental and economic standards.
