Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging announces leadership team appointments, including Lou Loosbrock as VP of sales, marketing and container, Paul Duncan as new mill manager

LONGVIEW, Washington , July 29, 2011 (press release) – Longview has realigned its leadership team to focus on growth and meeting customers’ needs. As part of this change, the company is announcing several new positions.

“Today, we are setting our sights on growth,” said Randy Nebel, Longview president. “We have made significant progress as a company over the past few years. Now we are evolving to better serve customers and become best at our craft.”

The changes are:

Lou Loosbrock will lead the Commercial/Container organization, as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Container. Three new regional general managers report to Lou: Paul Wimber, Dennis Clancy and Joe Bridges. The change brings Sales and Operations closer together to focus on rapid decision making while serving customers. This will facilitate enhanced delivery of service to our container customers. Lou has been Sales and Marketing VP since coming to Longview in October 2009. Prior to Longview, he worked for Nalco Company, and brings 30 years of experience in leading sales and operations divisions.

Paul Wimber, who has been providing consulting support since December 2010, has joined Longview as Container Regional General Manager for the Seattle and Oakland box plants. Paul has 32 years of corrugated industry experience, having served in roles such as general manager for both Commencement Bay Corrugated and Williamette Industries. He also worked in sales roles for Williamette for 15 years. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.

Dennis Clancy, who joined Longview as Western Regional Container Sales Director in August 2010, now becomes the Container Regional General Manager for the Longview, Yakima and Twin Falls box plants. Dennis brings 30-­plus years of experience in leading and managing corrugated sales teams. Prior to Longview, he worked for Temple-­Inland and Weyerhaeuser. Dennis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington State University.

Joe Bridges, now Container Regional General Manager for Spanish Fork and Cedar City, started at Longview in 2008. In his new role, Joe will also lead the strategic accounts team. He had been serving as the director of intermountain regional sales since 2008, with the addition of responsibility for the Oakland plant’s sales in 2010. Joe brings 18 years of corrugated industry experience, having worked for Weyerhaeuser, Williamette Industries and Jefferson Smurfit Corporation prior to joining Longview. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oregon.

Paul Duncan will lead the Paper mill, Pulp mill, Shipping and Maintenance organizations as the new Mill Manager. Paul will drive production growth at the Longview, Wash., mill. He joined Longview in October 2008, and has held positions as assistant mill manager and paper mill superintendent. Paul brings 25 years of industry experience, having also worked for Weyerhaeuser, Visy Paper, Gaylord Container, Inland Container and James River Paper in a variety of roles, such as operations manager, paper machine superintendent and process engineer. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Pat Ortiz becomes Operational Services Manager, leading the Safety;; Capital Planning and Engineering;; Energy and Environment organizations. Pat has been serving as assistant mill manager since November 2010, and has worked for the company for 25 years. He has also worked as positions such as pulp operations manager, pulp mill superintendent and power superintendent. Pat holds bachelor’s degrees in both chemical engineering and forest products from Oregon State University.

Matt Peerboom, as Administrative Services Manager, will lead the Human Resources, Labor Relations, Procurement and Order Fulfillment organizations. Matt will lead the company on its path to becoming a high-­performing organization and ensure robust processes are in place. Prior to this role, Matt served as Container Division General Manager since April 2009, and has worked for Longview for 22 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oregon State University.

Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging, Inc. produces light-­weight, high-­performance multiwall and complementary specialty kraft papers for an established domestic and global customer base. The company also produces containerboard and corrugated boxes. Longview operates a pulp and paper mill at Longview, Wash., and a network of seven converting plants in the western United States.
