Molson Coors Brewing to launch Animee beer for women in U.K., touted as lighter, less gassy, less bitter; 17% of U.K. women drink beer, compared with 25% in U.S.

LOS ANGELES , July 19, 2011 () – Two and a half years and £1 million later, Molson Coors Brewing Co. is launching Animee beer for women in the U.K. The beer, which is touted as lighter, less gassy, and less bitter, is meant to appeal to women, 79% of whom rarely drink beer, according to the brewer’s research.

Beer consumption by women is 17% in England, while in the U.S. it is 25%.

Animee will be available in August, the publication stated.
