Rosko Forestry Operations of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, accepts provincial wood supply offer of 138,500 m3/year, plans to expand sawmill operations, creating up to 24 new jobs

QUEEN'S PARK , June 24, 2011 (press release) – Rosko Forestry Operations Ltd. in Kirkland Lake has accepted a wood supply offer from the Province, creating up to 24 new jobs and protecting 24 existing jobs. The company will use the wood supply to expand operations at its sawmill.

The Provincial Wood Supply Competition was held to get unused wood in Ontario back to work while the Province transitions to a new forest tenure and pricing system.

Helping build a stronger forest industry is a key component of the plan laid out in Ontario's 2011 Budget - Turning the Corner, to create and support 10,000 new and existing jobs for Ontario families and to strengthen local economies.

Rosko Forestry Operations Ltd. has accepted an offer of 138,500 cubic metres per year of merchantable cedar, spruce, pine, fir, white and red pine, other conifer, white birch and tolerant hardwood.

The 35 accepted wood supply offers announced to date will put to use a total of 4,901,300 cubic metres per year of wood and create or protect 3,031 new and existing jobs.

Ontario received 115 submissions under the Provincial Wood Supply Competitive Process from existing and new forest companies requesting access to unused wood.
