CelluForce, a joint venture between Domtar and FPInnovations, launched in July 2010. The first North American company formed to manufacture nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC), has announced its demonstration plant should be operational early next year. The CelluForce plant is being constructed at the site of the Domtar Windsor, Quebec, pulp and paper mill. CelluForce will be making polymers from the nanomaterials in pulp cellulose that can be used in applications such as films, inks, panels, and even cosmetics. CelluForce plans to identify new commercial applications for NCC and commercialize it throughout the world.
The CelluForce team, under the leadership of President and CEO Jean Moreau, is working to develop innovative and viable solutions that ensure both the competitiveness and the transformation of the Canadian forestry industry.
