Momentive says its new waterborne epoxy phenolic co-dispersions with zero VOC yield superior performance for baked industrial coatings on pipes, drum liners, abrasives, wires requiring high chemical, solvent, thermal resistance

COLUMBUS, Ohio , March 29, 2011 (press release) – Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. is introducing a new line of storage-stable, 1K, Waterborne Epoxy Phenolic Co-Dispersions that are zero VOC and yield superior performance for baked industrial coatings on pipes, drum liners, abrasives and wires that require high chemical, solvent, and thermal resistance. These coatings demonstrate superior adhesion, film flexibility, toughness and high Tg.

The new waterborne co-dispersions deliver good wetting and adhesion to metal substrates and can be applied as a surface treatment, binder or adhesion promoter. Upon application, the epoxy-phenolic resin binder coalesces to form a clear, continuous film and after baking forms a highly cross-linked, tough and chemically resistant film.

Waterborne 1K co-dispersions of several Epoxy Resin and Phenolic Novolac Resin combinations are available that offer different levels of performance. Currently, EPI-REZ™ System 4110-W-55 and EPI-REZ™ System 4210-W-60 have been introduced.
