OVERLAND PARK, Kansas , March 7, 2011 (press release) – As more businesses “cut the cord” from their local phone providers and operate in the increasingly popular “mobile only” mode, Sprint (NYSE: S) and WhitePages (www.whitepages.com) today announced the first directory for businesses to list their wireless phone numbers online. Sprint is the only telecommunications provider to offer the service. WhitePages is a top 50 website with more than 20 million unique visitors per month.

“Until now, businesses of all types – especially small ones – were limited to listing only local (landline) phone numbers in thick phone directories that printed annually. What businesses want is a place to list, customize and regularly update their business information – including wireless numbers. The old directories aren’t an option in today’s business environment, especially for small businesses that use only wireless phones,” said Judy Train, Sprint vice president – Small Business and Alternate Channels.

Sprint business customers can customize online wireless business listings with featured search engine results placements, photos, videos and detailed business information.

This opt-in-only service gives Sprint wireless business customers total control over listings and guarantees that nothing will be published without their permission.

Setting up a wireless listing is a simple process. Sprint wireless business customers simply need to go to sprint.whitepages.com to create an account and then use their wireless device to complete the setup. Each new listing will be reviewed directly by WhitePages and will earn a WhitePages Verified Listings badge that assures potential customers that the information presented is accurate and up to date.

According to Jason Milstead, director of Business Search at WhitePages, “The ability to list wireless numbers has long been requested by small business owners – from florists to limo drivers – and many others who solely use a mobile phone. Sprint business customers can now safely publicize their wireless contact information on one of the Web’s most trusted and visited sites, providing the perfect solution for business owners as they look to attract and retain customers.”
