U.S. Corrugated has announced two separate acquisitions this week, both involving sheet plants. The Company has acquired certain of the assets of Gibraltar Packaging, a leading independent folding carton producer, as well as acquiring substantially all of the assets of T.H.E.M. of Ohio, Inc. and affiliates, a sheet plant in the Cleveland, Ohio area which had been under bankruptcy protection for a number of months.
“Both of these acquisitions enhance our service capabilities in markets in which we already operate,” said David Doherty, U.S. Corrugated’s Director of Business Development. “The T.H.E.M. assets also allow us to significantly expand our product offerings in the Cleveland market.”
“Among the range of options available to us, we felt that U.S. Corrugated was the best strategic fit for our corrugated business in Nebraska,” said Teena Rodocker-Kucera, Gibraltar’s VP and General Manager. “We know that the loyal long-term customers we have cultivated are in good hands moving forward, and we fully expect to maintain a mutually beneficial strategic relationship with U.S. Corrugated moving forward.”
U.S. Corrugated, along with its sister companies Mannkraft Corporation, a leading box-making company in the Northeast, and U.S. Display Group, an award winning designer and manufacturer of point-of-purchase displays, now operates 25 full service manufacturing facilities in 15 states, including its state of the art recycled containerboard mill in Cowpens, South Carolina.
