A 22-year-old worker has been killed by a falling log at a timber company in Vance.
Tuscaloosa Police Sgt. Kip Hart said the accident happened Friday morning at KyKenKee Inc., a timber company located on Highway 11.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that the worker was killed when a log fell from a machine that strips bark. Police were withholding the victim's name until his family could be notified.
It was not immediately clear Friday how the log became loose. Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident.
