CHICAGO , November 12, 2010 () – The CEO of Sun-Times Media Holdings says the company plans to close 11 free weekly newspapers in suburban Chicago.

CEO Jeremy Halbreich says the move announced Thursday is part of Sun-Times Media's efforts to reduce costs.

Halbreich says the media company doesn't expect any workers to lose their jobs. He estimates that, at most, five jobs will be cut.

The parent company of the Chicago Sun-Times is working with advertisers, who have been notified about the changes.

The papers slated to close in late December are in Batavia, Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Fox Valley, Geneva, Glen Ellyn, Homer Glen, Lisle, Plainfield, Wheaton and the southwest suburban Lincoln-Way area.
