Acciona orders 34 Vestas V82-1.65 MW wind turbines for its Tuppadahalli Wind Farm project in the State of Karnataka, South India; construction scheduled to be complete in Q2 2011

RANDERS, Denmark , November 11, 2010 (press release) – Vestas has received an order for 34 units of the V82-1.65 MW wind turbine for the Tuppadahalli Wind Farm project in the State of Karnataka, South India.

The contract comprises supply and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA system as well as a 7-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled to start during the fourth quarter of 2010, and the project will be completed during the second quarter of 2011.

The order has been placed by Tuppadahalli Energy India Pvt Ltd, which is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) created by Acciona Energy India for the Tuppadahalli Wind Farm project.

Acciona is an existing customer of Vestas India. Prior to this order, Acciona has commissioned a total of 18 V82-1.65 MW turbines equaling 29.6 MW in the state of Karnataka, India. This 56 MW wind farm in Karnataka, is Acciona’s third project with Vestas in the State of Karnataka, India.

Vestas has been active in India for more than 10 years, and as per 30 June 2010, Vestas had installed more than 2,300 MW of wind power in India. The first V82-1.65 MW turbines were installed in Kongalnagaram, Coimbatore in 2004. Since then, Vestas has installed around 500 V82-1.65 MW turbines in India.
