Austell's mayor says he's been notified that the National Envelope Corp. South plant in the Cobb County city will close on Dec. 17.
Austell Mayor Joe Jerkins says about 225 people are employed at the Austell facility. He says some of the workers will transfer to a smaller plant in Smyrna.
A human resources official at the Smyrna plant confirms that the Austell plant will close.
The company filed for bankruptcy in June. A bankruptcy judge approved the acquisition of its assets by The Gores Group of Los Angeles in August.
