OTTAWA , May 21, 2010 (press release) – Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) today applauded the Government of Canada’s announcement that it will regulate greenhouse gas emissions from new heavy-duty vehicles, calling it an excellent opportunity to deploy made-in-Canada cleantech solutions.

“Minister Prentice’s announcement that Canada will develop common standards for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions for new heavy duty vehicles with the US will encourage even more transportation companies to adopt cleantech solutions,” said Dr. Vicky Sharpe, President and CEO of SDTC. “Our recent report, Sustainable Development Business Case Report: Transportation — Industrial Freight Transportation, identified regulations as a critical factor in reducing the impact of heavy-duty trucking - we are very pleased to see the Government of Canada‘s leadership on this initiative. SDTC looks forward to continuing our collaboration with the Government and the innovative companies in Canada’s cleantech sector to help enable the industry to meet these coming regulations”.
