Global Forest Partners puts 13,095-hectare Mangakahia Forest in New Zealand's Northland region up for sale on behalf of Global Timber Investors 6 fund

LEBANON, New Hampshire , May 17, 2010 (press release) – The Mangakahia Forest in the Northland region of New Zealand is comprised of freehold land totaling approximately 13,095 hectares, of which 10,990 hectares are planted in Radiata Pine. The estate’s productive area will support an annual harvest of approximately 520,000 m3 of logs during each of the next 15 years.

Global Timber Investors 6 (the “Fund”), a private equity investment fund, owns the Mangakahia Forest. Global Forest Partners (“GFP”), a U.S.-based timber investment management organization, serves as investment adviser to the Fund. GFP is managing the sale process.

The Mangakahia Forest’s age class profile and its proximity to regional mills as well as Marsden Point’s deep water port make this an exceptionally attractive acquisition opportunity not only for an investor wishing to establish or expand its exposure to New Zealand forestry but also for an operator interested in accessing the Asian and Australasian markets (particularly China, Australia, Japan, and Korea).
