HEIDENHEIM, Germany , May 12, 2010 (press release) – At the beginning of April, Gold East Paper at the Dagang location, China, set another world speed record for woodfree papers on PM 3 which was supplied by Voith Paper.

On 8 April 2010, an average speed of 1,800 m/min was reached during the production of double-coated fine paper at a basis weight of 90 g/m² over a period of 25 hours. The operating time efficiency was 91 %.

The impressive success series of PM 3 continues with this world record: This is already the sixth world speed record in a row. The last record which could be achieved on PM 3 at 1,770 m/min in August 2008 was exceeded again, and the threshold of 1,800 m/min was broken for the first time. This series of world records shows the large potential which this paper machine has.

PM 3 produces coated fine paper in a basis-weight range of 80 - 128 g/m² on a wire width of 10,600 mm. The on-line machine is equipped with a SpeedSizer and two DynaCoat coating units. The machine concept of the paper machine has been designed based on the proven One Platform Concept. The Tandem NipcoFlex press is equipped with QualiFlex press sleeves in both positions. One sleeve in the first press had set a running time record of its own with 329 million nip passes. During the world record run Dagang PM 3 was running with forming fabrics and press felts as well as roll covers from Voith Paper.(

For the plant which was started up in May 2005, Voith Paper supplied the entire process technology with all machine elements from stock preparation to winder.
