Direct marketer Valpak launches mobile coupon applications for Android, after making them available for iPhone, iPod Touch, Palm Pre mobile and smartphone platforms

THETFORD CENTER, Vermont , March 16, 2010 () – Direct marketer Valpak is taking its coupons mobile. Valpak just launched a free mobile coupon applications for the Android. This joins its mobile coupons available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and Palm Pre mobile and smartphone platforms.

Valpak delivers more than 17,000 offers through the mobile couponing app platform, the same as those available in digital format on Valpak.com.

Users of the Valpak mobile couponing can:

* Search savings by categories of dining, auto, beauty, health, shops, leisure, home, professional and general.
* Use the phone’s GPS to locate savings around them.
* Automatically sort results by distance from their current location.
* Click on an offer and use the phone’s mapping function to get directions.
* View multiple discounts at any given time.

Digital Coupons Proliferate

More than 10 million digital coupons were redeemed in the first half of 2009, up 25% from the previous year, and mobile coupons are increasingly in demand as consumers try them and realize how easy they are to use, Valpak claims.

Discount, Dept. Stores Offer Mobile Coupons

An increasing number of retailers are joining the mobile coupon revolution. Discount chain Target recently launched a new national mobile coupon program that allows customers to receive mobile coupons directly on their mobile phones and redeem them by scanning a barcode at checkout.

Target says it is the first national retailer to offer scannable mobile coupons directly to customers’ mobile phones for redemption in all of its stores. Department store retailer JCPenney has been piloting a similar program at select stores in the Houston, Texas, area that allows customers to download and carry coupons on their mobile phones that can be scanned directly from the phone’s display screen at the register.
