ATLANTA , September 14, 2009 () – The Atlanta Journal-Constitution now costs $1 if you buy it at a newsstand Monday through Saturday.

In a front-page note to readers on Monday, the Journal-Constitution said the 25-cent increase was necessary to continue to provide the quality newspaper on which readers depend.

The newspaper said its Sunday newsstand price would remain $2, adding readers can save as much as 46 percent by subscribing to seven-day home delivery.

Newspaper publishers have been battling increases in newsprint costs and declines in advertising revenue.
