How Gluttonous Was Your Super Bowl Sunday?

LOS ANGELES , February 4, 2020 () –

When it came to food this past Super Bowl Sunday, I admit that I overindulged. Our Super Bowl spread included pizza, chips, chicken wings, chili, fatty dips, sugar-laden sodas, and of course a vegetable platter so that we could have a few carrot sticks to balance it all out.

New research shows that I was among the nearly 70% of Americans who overindulged on Sunday, although I didn’t eat quite as much as they did.

According to research from LetsGetChecked, a direct-to-consumer at-home health testing and insights company, 69% of Super Bowl Sunday over-indulgers were planning to heavily overeat while watching the big game. How much so? Around 4.5 times the recommended daily intake. That comes out to 10,821 calories and 180 grams of saturated fat.

What did the average glutton actually eat last Sunday? Here’s the average breakdown:

2.7 portions of hot wings

3.2 slices of pizza

2.1 portions of fries

3.4 bags of chips

1.9 portions of chili

2.4 burgers

1.7 sliders

2 hot dogs

2.7 portions of nachos

3 pieces of fried chicken

1.8 ribs

1.7 sausages

1.6 slices of cake

1.8 brownies

1.8 bowls of ice cream

2.3 portions of salad

2.1 subs

1.7 bags of sweets

1.9 bars of chocolate

As for me? I dipped my Meat Lovers Pizza in some queso dip. But that’s as far as I went.
