Voith's calender roll cover NanoPearl S reaches run-time record of 958 hours for German paper producer Cordier Spezialpapier
September 16, 2008
– NanoPearl S, the latest calender roll cover from Voith Paper, reached a run-time record of 958 hrs at Cordier Spezialpapier in Schleipen, Germany. Previous applied roll covers had only reached a maximum of 550 hrs. A total runtime of more than 1000 hrs is expected.
Markus Hinkel, Mill Manager at Cordier Schleipen, is thrilled with the performance of NanoPearl: “The application of NanoPearl is an overall success. The increase in lifetime exceeded our expectations. The paper bulk was good over the entire lifecycle and the smoothness of the paper could be increased. No profile problems appeared within the critical area of the sheet edge.”
The NanoPearl series has a unique filler system with extremely fine and homogeneously distributed particles. The average particle size of 10-20 mm is a breakthrough within the industrial application of nano technology, and leads to considerable improvements of mechanic and thermal properties of the elastic calender covers.
