Face mask wearing has long been a part of the Eastern culture and not just in flu season. In Asia, healthy people regularly wear masks as a “social firewall” to attract less attention and avoid answering questions, according to a study.

The future points to a covered society, even after the crisis disappears. It is evidenced by the fact that face masks are becoming increasingly a fashion statement.

Italian swimwear brand Elexia Beachwear recently went viral when it launched the Trikini, a bikini that comes with matching face mask. Designer Tiziana Scaramuzzo originally posed the idea as a joke to her family, the New York Post reported. But she started producing the ensembles when she was bombarded with orders. Her trikini design retails for €50-€60, with €10 for the mask.

Companies of all kinds are now customizing masks with logos and accepting design submissions from clients.

Swimwear brand ZUMO has added custom face masks to its product line, which it says are made with breathable fabrics and can be customized for organizations that are looking to showcase their brand while promoting safe practices.

EmpirePromos also launched customizable Adver-Mask, a two-ply reusable mask made of PET and cotton, that can be printed edge to edge with full color logo designs.

As long as the coronavirus pandemic rages on, health officials will likely stress mask wearing not only for your self-protection but also for safeguarding the people surrounding you.
