Ricoh wins iF Design Award 2025 for Pro VC80000 printer and PENTAX 17 camera; award recognizes automated printing features and vintage-inspired film camera design

March 11, 2025 (press release) –

– Ricoh Company, Ltd. and RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. have won this year's iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 for RICOH Pro VC80000 and PENTAX 17 in the “Product” category. Each year, Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, the world's oldest independent design organization, organizes the iF DESIGN AWARD.

Production Printer “RICOH Pro VC80000” (RICOH)

A high-end continuous inkjet printer for the commercial printing market. Downtime is reduced with automated pre-printing preparation such as cleaning and density adjustment and the printing site workload is reduced with the real-time automatic inspection and automatic correction function for uneven density, white streaks, and misaligned printing timing. The product automates the print quality checks and adjustment, which tend to be work performed by particular skilled workers. This realizes high print quality, productivity and stable operation regardless of the skill of the operator, which supports a better working style for customers.

Fixed-Focal length compact film camera “PENTAX 17” (RICOH IMAGING)

The design of the PENTAX 17 incorporates the know-how and technology that contributed significantly to the development and success of Ricoh and Pentax cameras during the decades of analogue photography. As a reminiscence of many successful products of the past, the PENTAX 17 features many details from RICOH and Pentax history, e.g. the shutter release, the lens construction, the transport lever or the rewind crank. For this purpose, we have reviewed drawings of earlier models. Some things were difficult to understand from today's point of view. Thanks to the help of former colleagues who have already retired, it became easier to understand.
