Hi all, I’m excited to welcome Michael Silver, who joins The Athletic today as an NFL Senior Writer. Michael is a prolific and multifaceted writer who spent more than a dozen years at Sports Illustrated, where he wrote more than 70 cover stories. Michael also spent multiple years at Yahoo! Sports, NFL Network and, most recently, the San Francisco Chronicle — picking up the Society of Professional Journalists’ national sports columnist of the year award in 2022 and several Emmy nominations along the way. He’s the author of five books, most recently “The Why Is Everything: A Story of Football, Rivalry and Revolution.” He’s also a partner at Backstage Media, which has produced work that’s been screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
