TOKYO, October 25, 2024—Canon Inc. today announced that it has reached an agreement with aftermarket cartridge manufacturer Aster for an out-of-court resolution regarding Aster's alleged infringement of Canon's U.S. Patent Nos. 10,691,063, 10,838,356, and 11,320,782, which protect key innovations embodied in HP toner cartridge models CF360X, CF361X, CF362X, CF363X, CF360A, CF361A, CF362A, CF363A, W2120X, W2121X, W2122X, W2123X, W2120A, W2121A, W2122A, and W2123A and Canon toner cartridge models CRG040 and CRG064. To resolve the matter, Aster has discontinued the sale of compatible models AP-HF360AK, AP-HF361AC, AP-HF362AY, AP-HF363AM, AP-HF360XK, AP-HF361XC, AP-HF362XY, AP-HF363XM, AP-H2120AK, AP-H2121AC, AP-H2122AY, AP-H2123AM, AP-H2120XK, AP-H2121XC, AP-H2122XY, and AP-H2123XM in the United States. Aster also agreed to pay Canon an undisclosed sum as part of the settlement. Throughout the development, sales, and marketing process, Canon respects the intellectual property of other companies and individuals and expects others to similarly respect Canon’s intellectual property rights. Canon remains committed to pursuing legal enforcement against those who do not respect Canon’s intellectual property.
