Barnes & Noble opens new store in Park City, Utah on November 20; author Jack Carr to host ribbon-cutting ceremony and book signing at grand opening

November 13, 2024 (press release) –

Author Jack Carr to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024

Park City, UT – November 13, 2024 – Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its Park City bookstore on Wednesday, November 20th. The new Barnes & Noble is located in Redstone Shopping Center (1678 Redstone Center Drive, Park City, UT 84098), in the space formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond, next to Backcountry and near Orangetheory Fitness.

The new Barnes & Noble will officially open to the public at 10AM MT on Wednesday the 20th, with author Jack Carr cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his books. Additionally, Barnes & Noble has partnered with Sub Pop Records to offer a free collectible tote bag to customers who purchase any Sub Pop CDs or vinyl records, while supplies last. On the day of the grand opening, two lucky Sub Pop purchasers will be surprised with a free limited edition color variant vinyl LP.

The bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller. The bookstore will also house an updated B&N Café.

“Opening a new bookstore is always a joyous occasion, and this one doubly so,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “We are not only celebrating our new Park City Barnes & Noble, but also our new Murray bookstore which opened just last week. Our Park City booksellers are eager to welcome customers into their beautiful new Barnes & Noble.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2023, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2024.

The Park City location is one of twelve new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in November, alongside another new location in Murray, UT as well as NY, FL, NH, IN, KS, CA, NJ, and Washington DC. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.

“I'm so proud to open a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Park City,” said Store Manager Matt Turvey, longtime Barnes & Noble Bookseller. “Opening a new bookstore is a labor of love and takes tremendous teamwork and effort. Our passionate booksellers can’t wait to welcome the community into their beautiful new Park City Barnes & Noble.”
