JULY is Plastic Free July® and Sirane can offer a range of sustainable plastic-free packaging solutions for anyone looking to move to plastic-free. Plastic Free July® is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. It is organised by the Australia-based Plastic Free Foundation and has been running every year since 2011. Sirane has a range of plastic-free packaging solutions which can make a real difference – including pouches/flow-wrap films, and coated boards. Our Earthfilm is an award-winning paper-based barrier film, which is heat-sealable and recyclable in the paper recycling stream. It is also plastic-free. Ross Griffin, director of board products, said: “We’ve developed a plastic-free alternative to commonly used boards, which traditionally have been either plastic or foil backed, and difficult to recycle (if at all). “Our boards are coated with a sustainable barrier coating, which gives it all the grease/moisture resistance required – and the boards are recyclable. “We recently added cake-drums – available up to 600 micron thick. “Earthboard can be supplied either in a range of colours – including silver and gold – or custom printed, offering amazing branding potential.” We also offer plastic-free sandwich skillets – our Earthwedge – which combine the expertise of both our flexibles and board division. Available as a tabbed product, ideal for anyone filling and selling sandwiches same day. Sirane also offers plastic-free tree-shelters – our Earthboard tree-shelters are made from a naturally water-resistant board with additional protective coatings and are designed to last out in the field for many years. Ultimately, however, they will eventually break down and return to the soil – removing the time-consuming job of collecting them all in.
