Personal care start-up brand Roam recently took advantage of a range of services from Spectra Packaging for their new Natural Gel and Silk Lubricant sexual healthcare products.

Injection stretch blow moulded in 100% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) PET; the stylish, red containers employ two of Spectra’s elegant Tall Square designs in 100ml (Ref:1059) and 200ml (Ref:1035) size options.

The distinctive square packs benefit from pin-sharp silk screen printing on three faces. The remaining surface engages Spectra’s revolutionary “Touch” high build technology, made possible by the firm’s dedicated in-house decoration department.

Dan Smith, Business Development Manager at Spectra, said,

“It’s great to see customers embrace some of our innovative decoration offerings whilst enjoying the environmental benefits of post-consumer materials”.

He added,

“Roam recognised the challenges of helping blind and visually impaired consumers and sought a solution, which Spectra’s Touch provides, adding genuine value to their packaging. Moreover, this ground-breaking finish enables customers a unique raised print opportunity that eliminates the need for custom tooling”.

Although Touch is one of many innovative print technologies on offer from Spectra, we firmly believe packaging should look great and, when possible, serve a real purpose.

Touch can those who find identifying products difficult and inhibiting. Dots can be printed directly onto the bottle’s surface using extremely accurate control measures, which means the height of the Braille alphabet remains consistent throughout the packaging run. This also makes Touch ideal for customers looking for Braille solutions without the need for moulding.

Although developed specifically for Braille purposes, Touch can also be used in traditional screen printing to allow brands to highlight specific design features with an embossed effect.

When setting up the business, Roam founders Alex Griffiths and Ben Taylor aimed to create products inclusive of everyone.

When asked about working with Spectra, they said,

“Spectra helped us create environmentally responsible packaging with a sophisticated, modern look and feel that everyone can use”.
