October 12, 2022 (press release) –

It is a real high-tech device for small and large inventors: the compact, intelligent laser cutter Beambox Pro. One copy now belongs to the School Research Center (SFZ) Ochsenhausen. Thanks to an 8,000 euro donation from SÜDPACK, the young talents can now precisely cut and engrave a wide variety of materials. The handover took place on October 11th.

"What has long been standard in the industry can now be implemented by our young researchers with us: program components for their student projects and manufacture them mechanically. With the generous donation, SÜDPACK has fulfilled a great wish of the SFZ team today,” explains Tobias Beck, one of the two site managers of the SFZ Ochsenhausen.

The SFZ is one of 9 locations of the SFZ Südwuerttemberg eV It offers around 70 young people from secondary school the opportunity to work and research on issues from the natural sciences, computer science, technology and mathematics. Participation is independent of the type of school and free of charge.

However, since the young people repeatedly come up against the limits of accuracy when implementing their development ideas, the purchase of a device that can cut and engrave wood, leather, Plexiglas, cardboard and much more precisely, computer-controlled and in large format was at the top of the list List. In an interview with SÜDPACK, the management of the film manufacturer didn't need to be asked twice. As a partner of the SFZ, SÜDPACK has been promoting the research urge of young people for years. “We are a family company that is firmly anchored in Upper Swabia with its locations. Therefore, the development of the region and the people is very important to us. In addition, we are of course very happy to support sustainable projects and technologies," emphasizes Carolin Grimbacher, Managing Partner of SÜDPACK.

On October 11th, in the presence of Carolin Grimbacher, Michaela Munding and Dr. Stephanie Würfl from SÜDPACK, the SFZ team from Ochsenhausen and representatives of the SFZ headquarters in Bad Saulgau ceremonially put the new device into operation in Ochsenhausen. "It's great that the SFZ students can now implement their technical issues with the latest technology and thus push the boundaries of what is feasible in school projects," says Tobias Beck. Martin Trick, also site manager at the SFZ, adds: “We already have concrete projects and lots of ideas for the new high-tech device. For example, we are planning a big maker night for interested young people at the end of November. You can then dive into the maker scene with us for a night, learning CAD design, building robots and operating 3D printers.
