Vetropack Straza completes construction of its third solar power plant on roof of its facility in Hum na Sutli in northern Croatia; plant is expected to cut CO2 emissions by 302.02 tonnes annually

ZAGREB ( Croatia ), June 17 (SeeNews) - Croatian glass packaging manufacturer Vetropack Straza, part of Switzerland's Vetropack , said it has completed the construction of its third solar power plant, valued at 1.4 million euro ( $1.6 million ), on the roof of its facility in Hum na Sutli in northern Croatia .

"The Vetropack Straza III power plant has been fully operational since end of May, marking an important milestone in the plant's transition to more sustainable and energy-efficient glass production," the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

Vetropack Straza received around 818,000 euro in co-financing from the European Union’s Modernisation Fund , which supports investments aligned with the EU’s 2030 climate and energy targets.

The plant is expected to cut CO₂ emissions by 302.02 tonnes annually. The 1,899.5 MWh of electricity it generates each year will be used in the production of glass bottles and jars, as well as to power the administrative building.
