On March 28, 2025, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced that it is seeking project applications for its Tribal Wildlife Grants Program. Tribal Wildlife Grants are intended to help Tribes develop programs for the conservation of habitat and species of traditional or cultural importance, regardless of whether they are hunted or fished.

A total of $6.1 million is available for this round of funding and the last day project proposals will be accepted is June 20, 2025.

Since its inception in 2003, more than $124.5 million in Tribal Wildlife Grants have been awarded to Federally recognized Tribes for projects that have benefited a wide range of fish, wildlife, and habitat. Typically funded projects include: conservation planning, fish and wildlife management and research, habitat mapping and restoration, inventory and monitoring, and habitat preservation.
