The New York Times today announced the return of Climate Forward 2025. This flagship climate summit provides a forum for the exchange of climate solutions and ideas, and holds newsmakers and industry leaders accountable in front of a live audience. The one-day event will be held at The Times Center in New York City on Wednesday, Sep. 24, featuring conversations with business leaders, U.S. policy makers, innovators, world leaders and others, alongside journalists from The New York Times.

This year’s theme is “Breaking Points.” The event will investigate what comes next for our rapidly warming planet. Through dynamic and insightful interviews with world leaders, activists, innovators and scientists, we will examine the implications of U.S. policy changes, what happens to climate action now, and the global community’s path forward amidst evolving geopolitical landscapes.

David Gelles, managing correspondent for the Climate Forward newsletter, will curate and host live conversations along with a team of Times journalists. The talks will be based on critical analysis and insights from their on-the-ground reporting.

“Climate Forward amplifies our unmatched climate journalism, helping readers understand the impact of climate change, and the leaders, policies and potential solutions at the forefront of the planet’s biggest story,” said Lyndsey Layton, Climate Editor for The New York Times. “Our annual event brings our reporting from every continent into one room, showcasing the urgency of this moment and pushing the boundaries of ambitious live journalism.”

This is the fourth annual Climate Forward, following the success of previous events, which have included interviews with Jane Goodall, John Kerry, Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh, Al Roker, Greta Thunberg, Ajay Banga, Al Gore, Bill Gates, José Andrés, Mia Mottley of Barbados, William Ruto of Kenya and Michael R. Bloomberg. The Times has also hosted global climate events in recent years in London, Sharm el-Sheikh, San Francisco and Glasgow.

Audiences are invited to join Climate Forward for this year’s insightful exchanges. The event will include a sustainable lunch hosted by changemakers responding to the climate crisis in new, creative ways.
