Merger will bridge the technology gap between packaging materials and films to bring 100% plastic-free solutions to market at cost parity

MONTCLAIR, N.J., June 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Generation Food Rural Partners I (GFRP), LP, a RBIC-licensed fund managed by Big Idea Ventures , today announced the merger of TerraSafe Materials, Inc., and DisSolves, Inc. This strategic consolidation follows significant performance achievements by both companies in the consumer goods sectors of food packaging and household cleaning. The newly combined entity, operating under the TerraSafe brand, will deliver a comprehensive portfolio of high-performance packaging solutions tailored for the food industry.

TerraSafe Materials, Inc.

DisSolves, Inc.

"We're incredibly proud of what the teams at TerraSafe and DisSolves have achieved over the past two years, and this merger truly reflects their dedication," said Tom Mastrobuoni, Chief Investment Officer of Big Idea Ventures . "We created the GFRP fund to accelerate the commercialization of technologies vital to the agriculture, food, and materials industries. This evolution of the portfolio continues to validate the GFRP approach."

The pursuit of a truly circular and regenerative economy hinges on a fundamental material revolution , particularly within the packaging industry. This transformative shift demands innovative approaches to material design, moving beyond current unsustainable practices rooted in fossil fuels. By combining TerraSafe's advanced platform technology model with DisSolves' innovative edible, food-grade film technology, the merged company is poised to accelerate this transition.

"I'm excited to take this next step in seeing our bold vision for reducing plastic usage for future generations come to life," stated Scott Bolin, CEO of TerraSafe. "Combining TerraSafe and DisSolves opens the door for new product use cases that make sustainable packaging the easier choice. Our dissolving, edible pods are a waste-free replacement for single-serving sachets. Combined with the TerraSafe engine, we're bringing it to market even faster than we had planned."

Jared Razewski, founder of DisSolves and a member of the TerraSafe team , added, "For me, this merger is a culmination of the original acquisition of DisSolves by the Fund, and I'm thrilled to see DisSolves formally join the TerraSafe family."

The unified company will offer a broader range of bio-based substrates, coatings, and edible films , all developed with TerraSafe's commitment to being " Plastic-Free is Petroleum-Free™ and home compostable." These innovative solutions directly address the escalating environmental and health concerns associated with traditional plastic packaging.
