July 5, 2024 (press release) –
The project will involve an investment of R$39 million. The choice of Americana reinforces Suzano's focus on local development, in addition to improving the efficiency of the distribution operation in the region.
Suzano, the world's largest producer of cellulose and a global leader in the manufacture of bioproducts developed from planted eucalyptus trees, announced the installation of a new Distribution Center (DC) in Americana, which will bring an investment of approximately R$39 million to the municipality.
The new Americana Distribution Center is scheduled to open in 2025, and will be installed in the area that previously housed the Tabacow company, bringing more than 100 direct and indirect jobs to the city, which will add to the more than 750 Americana residents who already work for the company and bring dynamism to the local economy.
“In the year in which we celebrate 100 years of Suzano and 65 years of our industrial unit in the region, it is a great pleasure to announce this new distribution center that not only symbolizes our commitment to local economic development, but also strengthens ties with the community that welcomes us daily. We are confident that the distribution center in Americana will strengthen our logistics chain and benefit both our company and our employees, as well as the local community,” says Davi Fabrício Teixeira, Suzano’s executive manager of Logistics.
Suzano in the Limeira and Americana region
In 2024, the Limeira Unit, located near Americana, will be 65 years old. The factory has an installed production capacity of 690 thousand tons of pulp per year and 400 thousand tons of paper per year. The unit is also responsible for generating clean energy from biomass, contributing to sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In the first quarter of 2024, Suzano began construction to expand production of Eucafluff®, the world's first eucalyptus fluff, at the Limeira Unit. The total investment of R$490 million is aligned with Suzano's strategic business avenues and reinforces the company's commitment, throughout its century-old trajectory, to constantly adapt its operations to the demand of the Brazilian and global markets.
“The city of Americana is very important to Suzano, because in the 65 years that our unit has been in the region, we have had employees who welcome us every day and support us in building a better future. Bringing a distribution center to the city, in addition to other investments that the company is making, further reinforces Suzano’s focus on the development of the population of Americana,” said Rodrigo Pestana, Suzano’s executive manager of Production at the Limeira Unit.
