October 10, 2023 (press release) –
Demand for forest raw materials from family forestry remains. To meet demand ahead of the winter, from both the timber market and Södra's industries, Södra is raising prices for spruce and pine timber as of 9 October.

Södra's assessments show continued good demand for forest raw materials. This mainly concerns the demand for spruce, pine and fuelwood logs. Södra is therefore implementing a price increase of SEK 30 per m³fub for spruce and pine timber and SEK 20 per m³fub for fuel wood as of 9 October. The price increase means that Södra is expected to meet its raw material needs in late autumn and winter, which may be affected by challenges with bearing capacity in the forest.
"We see that there is continued good demand for forest raw materials in both the short and long term, which is positive for the profitability of the forest estate. At the same time, we operate at a time when the commodity market contains many uncertainties. This requires continued flexibility and adaptability along the way," said Peter Karlsson, President of the Södra Skog business area.
The following price adjustments are made and apply from October 9, 2023:
-
For normal logs of spruce and pine, the basic price is increased by SEK 30 per m³fub
-
The basic price of fuel wood will be increased by SEK 20 per m³fub
The market premium for pulpwood will continue to apply until 31 December 2023. Contact your inspector for more information about the price increase and premiums.
