Roseburg Forest Products is proud to support the organization Every Child during the month of February. The company’s western regional office in Dillard, Oregon, will participate in a collection drive for Every Child’s Welcome Boxes for children entering the foster care program.
We also invite the public to participate by donating at our Dillard location (see drop-off information below).
What are Welcome Boxes?
Many children must wait in a Child Welfare office for hours at a time while waiting for their new living arrangement, and the Welcome Boxes are filled with age-appropriate items like toys and games, essential care products, and an encouraging note.
Since many children enter the foster care system with just a few personal belongings, Welcome Boxes help ease them into this transition and provide some comfort.
What to Donate
Every Child suggests filling Welcome Boxes with a variety of items, including from both the Essentials and Extras lists below.
- Essentials:
- Something to color/write on; coloring book, journal, notebook, activity book, construction paper
- Something to color/write with; crayons, pens, pencils, colored pencils, markers
- Toothpaste
- Flashlight (with batteries)
- Nightlight
- Encouraging note
- Extras:
- Toys
- Games
- Puzzles
- Books
- Water bottles
- Socks
- Health/beauty products
- Stuffed animals
- LEGO
- Dolls
- Cars
- Stickers
- Crafts
- Please DO NOT include:
- Used items
- Sharp/dangerous items
- Holiday/seasonal items
- Hygiene items containing alcohol
- Religious items
- Vitamins
- Violent action figures or toys
