The Port of Los Angeles, the main container terminal in the United States, reported that ocean carriers are canceling voyages scheduled to arrive next month amid the intensification of the global trade war.

Gene Seroka, the port's executive director, said at a press conference on Friday that 12 voyages have already been canceled for the month of May, compared to seven in the same month of 2024.

According to him, retailers and manufacturers are reducing new orders in the face of increased tariffs on Chinese imports.

Seroka projects a possible 10% drop in the port's cargo volume in the second half of the year due to the tariffs.

He said this downturn could start as early as May. "Get ready. This is going to be very turbulent for us," he said. .
