July 8, 2024 (press release) –
The Maritime-Executive reports that the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, alongside North Point Development, is pursuing three substantial federal grants for their Pacific Coast Intermodal Port project (PCIP). This project is set to transform the region's economy by establishing an intermodal gateway for west coast trade, handling an estimated 1.2 million TEUs annually and creating nearly 9,400 jobs. The proposals have garnered support from the Oregon Congressional Delegation and several trade unions. The PCIP will include upgrades to the local rail line, enhancements to the navigation channel, and the building of a rail-associated maritime terminal.
