NEW ORLEANS, La. (Jan. 24, 2025)— The National Auto Dealers Association (NADA) donated a brand-new Ram 3500, purchased from Hebert’s Town & Country Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Shreveport, La., to Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana. The donation is made as NADA hosts their annual show in New Orleans January 23 - 26.

“Every year we do something to give back to the communities that host us for our show,” said John Mitchell, 2024 NADA Show Chairman. “Our philosophy is to always leave our host cities better than we found them, and that’s why we’re here today building on the great work Second Harvest does every day.”

This essential new vehicle will expand Second Harvest’s capacity to serve communities across South Louisiana by supporting the Makin’ Groceries Mobile Market. The Mobile Market is a traveling grocery store that sells fresh produce, proteins, dairy, and dry goods at affordable prices in neighborhoods identified as food deserts.

"In our work, we see neighbors making impossible choices to feed their families,” said Natalie Jayroe, president and CEO of Second Harvest. “NADA's gift of a pickup truck for our mobile market is a game-changer, and it will help us bring affordable, fresh food directly to neighborhoods in food deserts. NADA’s dedication and support show what's possible when we invest in community-driven solutions."

Second Harvest Food Bank leads the fight against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response. Second Harvest provides food and support to 500+ community partners and programs across 23 parishes. Their staff and volunteers distribute the equivalent of more than 40 million meals a year.
